About the series

The Peace Dollar, in brief

The Peace dollar was struck from 1921 to 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935 to mark the end of the First World War. Anthony de Francisci designed a radiate Liberty and a perched eagle with the word PEACE. The 1921 issue was struck in high relief and was replaced in 1922 by a lower relief that stacked and struck more reliably. The coins are 90% silver.

Peace dollars are common in circulated grades and trade near melt. Premiums come from the 1921 high relief, the low-mintage 1928, and issues that are scarce in Mint State, such as the 1927 and 1934 Denver and San Francisco coins.
